Domain Registration Getting Started

This article will walk you through registering your first domain with NamesLink. From search to payment, the entire process takes just a few minutes.

What Is a Domain Name

A domain name is the address of your website on the internet. Users access your site through a domain name (such as nameslink.com) without having to remember a complex IP address. A complete domain name consists of two parts:

  • Prefix: nameslink — the customizable name portion

  • Extension (TLD): .com — the top-level domain. Common options include .com, .net, .org, .co, and more

NamesLink supports the registration of hundreds of top-level domains, covering generic TLDs, country-code TLDs, and new TLDs.

Before You Register

Before registering a domain, we recommend preparing the following:

  1. Decide on a domain name: Choose a short, memorable name related to your brand. We suggest preparing 2–3 alternatives

  2. Confirm the extension: .com is the most universal choice. If .com is already taken, consider .net, .co, or industry-specific extensions such as .tech or .app

  3. Prepare registration details: Including your name, email, phone number, and address, which will be used to create the domain registrant contact profile

  4. Understand local requirements: Some country-code domains may have special registration requirements. Please check the prompts on the NamesLink search page before registering

Registration Process

Step 1: Check Domain Availability

  1. Visit the NamesLink homepage and enter your desired domain name in the search box (for example, mybrand)

  2. The system will display the registration status for each available extension:

    • Available: The domain has not been registered yet and you can purchase it immediately

    • Registered: The domain is already owned by someone else. You can view the Whois information or try contacting the owner to purchase it

Tip: If your preferred domain is already registered, NamesLink will intelligently recommend similar available domains for you to choose from.

Step 2: Purchase

  1. In the search results, click the Register button next to your target domain

  2. You can select the registration term (1–10 years)

  3. Confirm the Domain Registrant Contact Profile: If you do not select a contact profile, the system will use your default profile. The default profile is generated based on your account information when you sign up, and you can also add profiles and change the default at any time.

According to ICANN regulations, domain registration information must be accurate and valid, including:

Registrant name / organization name

Email address

Phone number

Full address (country, region, city, street, postal code)

  1. Domain privacy protection (Whois Privacy) is enabled automatically, which hides your personal information and prevents spam and unsolicited calls

Step 3: Review Order and Pay

  1. Review your order details: domain list, registration term, registrant information, and add-on services, then click Pay Now

  2. If your account balance is sufficient, the system will deduct the amount automatically. If your balance is insufficient, please follow the on-page instructions to add funds first.

  3. After payment is complete, the domain will usually be registered and activated within minutes to 24 hours

Step 4: Manage Your Domain

After successful registration, you can log in to your NamesLink account and use the Domain Management console to:

  • View domain expiration date

  • Renew / redeem

  • Transfer out

  • Modify DNS records

Important Notes

  • Accuracy of information: Incomplete or inaccurate registration information may result in the domain being suspended or deleted

  • Valid email address: Be sure to use an active, valid email address. Expiration reminders, transfer authorization codes, and other important notifications will be sent to the registrant email

  • Comply with registry requirements: For extensions that require additional verification documents, please submit them as soon as possible after registration. Otherwise, the domain may be locked (ServerHold)
